Businesses that are the most successful all have one thing in common, the use of the 3-part business model.  If you look up the philosophies behind some of the most prominent and outstanding businesses, you will see that the one thing they are the best at is making sure that the 3 key components are all working equally.  They may seem obvious but they must work together in harmony to get the best results.  The elements are Customer/Client, Employees and Business.  Each is as important as the other and will not stand by themselves.  You may have customers and clients walking in your door but you must have a business for them to come in for.  You may have a great product that you know the population can not live without but you must have yourself or staff to help run your business.   Your staff is the way of getting your amazing business connected to the world.  Each is important and each can not work without any of the other.

Let’s look at each

Customer/Client – Each person talking to you, walking into your business or connecting with you online must feel respected and feel like they are a valued part of your business.  You must feel passionate about your product or service to best convey the importance of that purchase.  If you are marketing anything, you need to show value for that item.  Upselling is a must in most businesses and customers need to feel that what you are selling will sincerely help them in their lives.  Treat them like you would like to be treated and they will forever be your client.

Employees – Employees need to feel valued as they are the ‘face’ of your business.  If they are not appreciated how are they going to connect to the client on your behalf?  Hiring is a huge part of the picture but also in the retaining of great employees.  High paced and often hectic day-to-day operations in your business make it challenging to connect with your staff in the way that is respectful and rewarding.  Deadlines need to be met and jobs assigned need to be accomplished.  However, your staff must feel like they are a part of the team and a requirement to the overall success of your business because they ARE!

Business – There must be a passion behind your business and for the product or service that you provide.  The most successful businesses focus on the Why of their business and less about the How and What.  That is to say, any business can offer products (What) and supply them through a store front or online store (How) but top priority must be the passion, commitment and emotional value in what you are offering (Why).    Inventory, ordering and daily bookkeeping are a mandatory obligation when running a business but should never amount to more than 33% of your commitment to your business when using the 3-part business model.
